iDEAL represents a bank-redirect payment solution enabling customers in the Netherlands to complete transactions using their bank credentials. WishList LMS integrates with Stripe to facilitate accepting payments through iDEAL.
This document walks you through the configuration process and covers essential information about implementing iDEAL with Stripe and WishList LMS.
Accepting Payments Through iDEAL
WishList LMS supports iDEAL exclusively through its integrated Stripe payment gateway. To use it, you must first connect Stripe to WishList LMS on your website. Additionally, test the payment connection to verify proper functionality before enabling iDEAL.
Once your Stripe integration is established and verified, first enable iDEAL in your Stripe Dashboard:
- Log in to your Stripe Dashboard.
- Ir a Settings > Payment Methods.
- Locate iDEAL and click Encender.
- Complete any verification steps Stripe requires.
Next, activate the option in WishList LMS by following these steps. To do this, enable the iDEAL option for your connected Stripe gateway at Dashboard > WishList LMS > Settings > Payments tab.

As a result, your membership registration forms will now display iDEAL as a payment choice. This payment option appears on both Stripe Checkout and Stripe Elements payment forms.

When members select iDEAL during registration, they undergo redirection to complete payment authorization. After authorization, members return to your website automatically. Payment authorization is typically processed through mobile applications or online banking environments provided by the user’s bank.
Essential Information About iDEAL Usage
The iDEAL payment method appears exclusively when specific requirements are satisfied. The iDEAL integration includes certain restrictions established by both iDEAL and Stripe.
First and foremost, understand that iDEAL functions solely for one-time payment transactions. Consequently, this payment method remains hidden on registration pages for recurring membership subscriptions.
Furthermore, iDEAL lacks support for deferred payment arrangements. As a result, iDEAL becomes unavailable for membership levels featuring complimentary or premium trial periods.
Additionally, iDEAL operates through direct bank-to-bank transfers between customers and merchants. These transactions require compatibility between supported Acquirers and CPSPs on the merchant side, and Issuers on the customer side.
To accept these payments, you must maintain a bank account with at least one supported Acquirer or CPSP. Consult the list of available Acquirers and CPSPs on the iDEAL website.
Likewise, your customers need bank accounts with one of the available Issuers to purchase memberships.
Supported Countries and Currencies
As noted earlier, iDEAL payments exclusively serve customers located in the Netherlands. However, your merchant location can be established in any supported country to accept payments from Dutch customers.
Configure your merchant location to align with supported regions in both your WishList LMS settings and Stripe account. The following countries qualify:

Moreover, to use iDEAL with WishList LMS, set the currency in WishList LMS settings a la euro (EUR).
