How to Enable Klarna With Stripe and WishList LMS?

Klarna represents a modern “buy now, pay later” payment solution. This payment method enables customers to purchase membership subscriptions on your website while paying through flexible installments. The WishList LMS integration with Stripe facilitates receiving payments via Klarna.

This guide walks you through the configuration process and covers essential information about implementing Klarna with Stripe and WishList LMS.

Receiving Payments With Klarna

WishList LMS supports Klarna only through its integrated Stripe payment gateway. To use it, you must first connect Stripe to WishList LMS on your website. Additionally, test the payment connection to verify proper functionality before enabling Klarna.

Once your Stripe integration is set and verified, first enable Klarna in your Stripe Dashboard:

  • Log in to your Stripe Dashboard.
  • Go to Settings > Payment Methods.
  • Locate Klarna and click Turn on.
  • Complete any verification steps Stripe requires.

Next, activate the option in WishList LMS. To do this, enable the Klarna option for your connected Stripe gateway at Dashboard > WishList LMS > Settings > Payments tab.

As a result, your membership registration forms will now display Klarna as a payment choice. This payment option appears on both Stripe Checkout and Stripe Elements payment forms.

Warning: Klarna may appear on WishList LMS registration forms even if it is not enabled in your Stripe Dashboard. Activate Klarna in both Stripe and WishList LMS to prevent failed payments.

What’s Important to Know About Using Klarna?

The Klarna payment method appears exclusively when specific requirements are satisfied. The Klarna integration includes certain restrictions established by both Klarna and Stripe.

First and foremost, understand that Klarna functions solely for one-time payment transactions. Consequently, this payment method remains hidden on registration pages for recurring membership subscriptions.

Furthermore, Klarna lacks support for deferred payment arrangements. As a result, Klarna becomes unavailable for membership levels featuring complimentary or premium trial periods.

Supported Countries and Currencies

Klarna operates within specific geographical and currency limitations. Configure the currency in WishList LMS settings to match these supported options: AUD, CAD, CHF, CZK, DKK, EUR, GBP, NOK, NZD, PLN, SEK, or USD.

Additionally, configure your merchant location to align with Klarna-supported regions in your WishList LMS settings. The following countries qualify:

  • Belgium;
  • Czechia;
  • Denmark;
  • Estonia;
  • Finland;
  • France;
  • Germany;

Note: Verify that your Stripe account settings match the merchant country configured in WishList LMS.

Moreover, Klarna payment acceptance is restricted to customers located within the previously listed countries.

Notable exceptions include customers residing in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, and Slovenia. While you can configure these locations in your WishList LMS settings to offer memberships via Klarna, customers from these specific countries cannot complete Klarna transactions.
